Senior Compliance Manager
We are recruiting for a Senior Compliance Manager to work with a new dept of Editors for a leading travel channel. 

This exciting role would be located in a state of the art cloud-based facility in Amsterdam. 
Role overview:
You would be responsible for the smooth running of the creation and editing of all versions required for EMEA channels and brands from the Amsterdam hub. 

Excellent knowledge of OFCOM and NICAM guidelines essential as well experience of managing teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day oversight and output (content compliance and technical review) of the Compliance Editor team.
  • Leading and managing the team, providing clear guidance on expectations and deliverables.
  • Supporting the Senior Director – Reversioning & Compliance Editing in providing strategic guidance and input
  • Ensuring expert compliance guidance and vision is provided to the team.
  • Working collaboratively with the Senior Production & Operations Manager, and Director – Reversioning & Compliance Editing, you will meet business critical deadlines through implementation of the Reversioning strategy and monitoring of resources. 
  • Ensuring deadlines are met in an environment where priorities can quickly change, and deadlines tighten.
  • Ensuring content is edited appropriately in line with current EMEA compliance regulations including NICAM and Ofcom regulations and other regional regulators, as well as internal compliance, editorial, technical and cultural sensitivity guidelines. 
  • Responsible for providing technical and compliance leadership for the group of compliance editors. 
  • Ensuring systems are appropriate for tasks required to be performed and are continually developed, tested, implemented and maintained appropriately. 
  • Work with Engineering team to report and resolve technical issues within area of remit

  • Keeping alongside industry and internal developments in technological solutions and workflow enhancements to aid further departmental development. 
  • Leading on special projects as required.

  • Work with the Senior Director – Reversioning & Compliance Editing to establish and manage the new compliance editing hub in Amsterdam and associated requirements. 
  • Liaise effectively across multiple locations working in lockstep with the Strategy & Ops teams to support and meet agreed business deadlines 
  • Assess and manage priorities, adjusting and adapting as required in accordance with changing business needs.
  • Be dynamic and maintain effective communication across the business to understand and implement requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation and Reversioning for DNE programming prior to air to execute regional programming initiatives and ensure consistency in approach. 
  • Lead on compliance editing decisions, and escalate and share as necessary. 
  • Work closely with GT&O IT teams to ensure the department is able to operate to the best of its ability and provide feedback on testing or development in a timely manner.
  • Focus on the forward-looking pipeline of content and driving the look ahead cascade initiative way of working and local content sharing. 
  • Trouble-shoot issues and provide solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Support the process by helping with the selection of staff and freelancers as required. 
  • When required to do so you may be asked to identify/evaluate 3rd party acquisitions and local DCI commissions for special customisation/ repackaging, which in turn requires compiling an editorial and/or budget proposal. 
  • You will also support the Senior Director - Reversioning on a range of additional department projects as requested. 

  • Significant track record in factual and lifestyle programming - both terrestrial and multi-channel, with a specialism in Compliance
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff to deliver on dynamic, complex business requirements to tight deadlines
  • Ability to maintain a calm management style within a highly pressurised environment working to tight deadlines. 
  • Excellent management, communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Knowledge and experience of post-production processes and current broadcast technologies. 
  • Thorough knowledge and application of regulatory requirements
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written, and able to confidently communicate in English 
  • Experience of managing a team with high level of outputs 
  • To be personable & engaging; to be highly collaborative and forge working relationships with other departments 
  • Ability to work within a team, in a collaborative and supportive manner, but also to take initiative and be a self-starter
  • Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, and outside office hours, as appropriate and if necessary, to ensure workflow continuity.
