We are offering an outstanding opportunity to take the lead in managing a technical Data I/O team within our expert areas of Archive and Delivery Services.

The Role
Working closely with the Head of Digital Service and other department Heads, the Data I/O Manager will have the following responsibilities:

The immediate focus:
  • Line manage a technical Data I/O delivery and archiving team 
  • Achieve quality targets set by the platform vendors, broadcasters and Visual Data
  • Ensure the department runs smoothly and that clients' work is delivered efficiently, on time and to a high standard
  • Work closely with the Head of Digital Services to implement procedures to effectively plan all work going through the area, giving the business a clear overview of utilisation
  • Ensure operating overheads are managed and utilisation of equipment is maximised
  • Day to Day hands on technical skills, maintaining our MAM, Data Storage and Delivery systems.

Principal responsibilities & accountability:
  • Provide strong coaching and staff direction
  • Represent and uphold all department policies and procedures and maintain an exceptional level of service within the Digital department
  • Maintain an awareness of Visual Data’s clients' core challenges and internal deadlines
  • Be point person for the department and address questions from clients and staff regarding technical specifications
  • Responsible for monitoring your department's Bookings / Scheduling tools, ensuring work is assigned, deadlines are met and any capacity issues are identified and highlighted
  • Maintain and present weekly activity reports to Senior Management
  • Creation and maintaining of your departments processes, workflows and technical documentation
  • Coordinate error review requests, CAR actions and feedback into Senior Management
  • Organise and attend on-boarding calls when delivering to new clients
  • Work closely with the Head of Digital Services to identify and assist with the design and implementation in areas such as our delivery systems, workflows, automation and processes.

Personnel matters:
  • Responsibility for the management and planning of all staffing and capacity within your area.
  • Staff Performance appraisals, Conducting 1-2-1 reviews with your direct reports 
  • Keeping the team up-to-date with any changes in their requirements
  • Supporting the Head of Digital services with any necessary staffing actions in line with company policies
  • Identifying and conducting training for your direct team and providing regular technical and procedure support
  • Ensure all staff holiday and sickness records are maintained. 

Candidate profile 
Summary:
The successful candidate must have previous Supervisory and team experience, gained in an operational environment.  A self-directed individual with a drive for attention to detail.

You’ll possess exceptional coordination skills in order to be able to exchange relevant information between Operations, Client Services and external teams. 

Demonstrate an in-depth operational knowledge in delivery systems such as Aspera Enterprise and Signiant Media Exchange. 

Strong knowledge in Storage Management best practises and network storage architecture.

File formats for VoD Platforms, including the differences, strengths, and weaknesses among formats and a clear understanding of variables related to file types. 

Hands on experience in designing and creating technical workflow along with utilising MAM and DAM databases or any other office-based systems is essential in assuring jobs are efficiently processed.

You must also have the following:
  • 2+ years' hands on A/V Data management experience in the Post Production, Broadcast or VOD industry
  • Experience processing and delivering content to major platforms and international Broadcasters 
  • A proven technical background and in-depth understanding of delivery systems such as Aspera Enterprise and Signiant media exchange. 
  • Strong analytical skills including experience with reporting systems, data gathering, and data management
  • Strong knowledge of V/A Quality control workflows and processes
  • Fluent in English (Reading, Writing and Spoken) with excellent spelling
  • Competence with a variety of operating systems including Windows and Mac OS X 

Details
  • Hours of Work: 09:00 - 18:00 (Mon-Fri)
  • Other shift Patterns available: 08:00-17:00 or 10:00- 19:00 
  • Salary: Dependent on experience.
