Trainee Camera Technician/Driver
As a Trainee Technician and Driver, you will be supporting our Technical & Logistics teams while developing your own skills & knowledge on the path to becoming a Camera Technician, within a two-year structured training plan.

Job Purpose:

The Pro Motion Hire Technical team is responsible for the preparation and testing of hire equipment in line with our clients’ requirements and specifications. They are also responsible for testing and checking in returned hires and ensuring that all our equipment continues to meet the high standards we set, as well as other ad hoc duties like general maintenance of hire kit, and other warehouse / logistical tasks.

Our Logistics team is responsible for the safe delivery and collection of all our equipment to and from our clients and suppliers. This role may require daily adhoc driving duties as well as out of hours overtime requirements when needed. We will look to balance this role fairly between the technical and logistics department but in the event of covering driver absences such as holidays this role will revert more heavily to driving.


As a trainee technician and driver, you will be supporting both teams while developing your own skills & knowledge on the path to becoming a Camera Technician, within a two-year structured training plan. This role involves regular weekend work (2 weekends on call a month), flexible shift patterns and the possibility for other out of hour's overtime.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist in the preparation and testing of equipment ready to go out to clients in line with the job specifications
  • To test and check in returning client hires - Reporting damaged or missing equipment as per internal procedures
  • You will start with more basic kit (Grip, Lighting etc) and gradually learn on the job as you progress on to more complex equipment (Lighting, Cameras, and lenses etc.)
  • To assist Operations Manager with day-to-day tasks within the Warehouse – answering the door to clients/couriers, loading/unloading vans, and general tidiness of warehouse particularly the Returns Bay and Loading Bay
  • Delivery driving where needed inc. holiday cover for the drivers.


Customer / Client Approach:

  • Support the camera floor and fellow camera floor technicians in preparing and checking in hires
  • Welcoming and looking after clients and crew whilst in the warehouse for demos/prep days etc.

Person Specification

  • Understanding and awareness of the technical side of the TV & Film industry
  • Awareness of key equipment manufacturers (including but not limited to: Arri, Sony, Red, Canon, Angenieux, Zeiss, Panasonic, Fujinon)
  • Basic knowledge of professional camera, lighting & sound equipment, and accessories desirable
  • Strong computer skills inc Microsoft Office
  • Good organisation & time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Full clean driving license and good knowledge of London.


Education / Experience required:

  • Film/TV/Broadcast related degree or 1 year's industry related work experience.
