Senior Production Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Production Systems Engineer with a background in media and film technology to design, maintain, and optimize the infrastructure that underpins our global production workflows.

This role bridges traditional IT engineering and modern media pipeline development — combining deep technical expertise in networking, storage, virtualization, cloud platforms, and containerized environments with an understanding of data-intensive workflows such as digital cinema mastering, post-production, audio mixing and content delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure Engineering: Design, deploy, and support high-performance production systems, including networked storage (NAS/SAN), virtualization platforms, and render or transcoding environments
  • Data Movement & Workflow: Develop and maintain data transfer tools and automation pipelines to manage large media file transfers between global sites, cloud storage, and production partners
  • Containerized & Cloud Environments: Architect and manage containerized workloads (Docker/Kubernetes) and hybrid cloud environments for scalable compute and workflow orchestration
  • Network & Storage Optimization: Configure and tune high-throughput, low-latency network and storage systems to support 4K/8K media workflows and real-time collaboration
  • Automation & Scripting: Use Python or Lua and related tools to automate system processes, pipeline integrations, and monitoring.
  • Production Pipeline Integration: Collaborate with software, operations, and creative teams to ensure reliable integration between infrastructure and production tools (e.g. Resolve, Baselight, Clipster, Transkoder)
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain secure access controls, encryption, and audit mechanisms across production environments
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor system health, analyze performance, and resolve complex issues across storage, compute, and network layers
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with Production Engineering, IT, and operations teams; mentor junior engineers and contribute to documentation and process improvement.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Proven experience in a media, film, or post-production technology environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Network engineering (Layer 2/3, routing, QoS, jumbo frames, etc.)
    • Enterprise storage systems (e.g., GPFS, Qumulo, Quantum, TrueNAS, etc.)
    • Data transfer tools (Aspera, Signiant, Resilio, or custom solutions)
    • Virtualization platforms (Nutanix, Hyper-V, Proxmox, or similar)
    • Cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • Containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • Python scripting and automation
    • Linux system administration (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu)
  • Understanding of digital cinema and media formats (DPX, EXR, IMF, ProRes, DCP, etc.)
  • Experience integrating with render farms, colour pipelines, and mastering systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver reliable infrastructure for time-critical productions.

Desirable Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience with media asset management (MAM/DAM) and workflow automation tools
  • Familiarity with content security standards (TPN, MPAA, or ISO/IEC 27001)
  • Knowledge of REST APIs or CI/CD principles for infrastructure automation
  • Certification in relevant technologies (Fortinet, AWS or Linux).
  • Knowledge of Q-SYS Designer.

Why Join Us

  • Work at the intersection of cutting-edge IT and creative media production
  • Contribute to globally distributed, high-performance film and post-production workflows
  • Join a collaborative, innovative engineering team with strong ties to creative and technical talent.
