Network Engineer, Endeavor Streaming
We are seeking a Network Engineer to be responsible for enterprise design, build, and maintenance of complex network systems for current and future environments.
Job Summary
The Network Engineer will be responsible for recommendation and design of best-in-breed architectures, and troubleshooting engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities associated with one or more technical areas within the network function, including network design, engineering, implementation, or operations.

Key technologies include: Arista and Cisco switches, Cisco firewalls, Windows and Linux Servers, Amazon Web Services, Dell/HP Servers, and various on-premise and cloud data storage platforms.

You will work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation requires evaluation and judgment. 

We are seeking a team-player that will assist in the planning of large-scale complex enterprise network systems projects through design, vendor comparison & cost studies, and build to include hands on and directing other resources. This role will not have direct reports; rather the candidate will directly execute, while also directing the work of vendor teams.

The Role
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, plan, implement, support, & maintain network data communications systems in a high-availability environment, providing technical expertise on IT projects.
  • Monitor, manage, and support a high availability on-premise and cloud compute and network environment to include 24x7 alert monitoring.
  • In-depth knowledge of majority of Cisco and Arista networking product line; routers, switches, firewalls, including configuration and troubleshooting, including LAN/WAN and network protocols.
  • Intimate knowledge with “Best-of-Breed” network monitoring tools, and commands to ensure quick resolution to issues.
  • Ability to manage support cases with external technology vendors.
  • Understand the information security implications of technology solutions and ensure they comply with the Information security policies and processes.
  • Provide support on network and telecommunications-related issues.
  • Provide guidance, documentation, and appropriate training to Endeavor Streaming technical and operations employees on support of implemented LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Undertake proactive measures to ensure compliance with the Information Security policies and processes.
  • Maintain, monitor and operate the corporate and broadcast networks, security and computing platforms to ensure current and future enterprise needs are met.
  • Proactively monitor networking platforms for performance issues & respond within strict time frames and escalate incidents according to incident handling guidelines.
  • Assist in the developing policies, processes, and procedures for infrastructure teams.
  • Demonstrate and practice defined testing for all changes in the production environment.
  • Provide support & maintenance on mission-critical signal ingestion and operating systems in a high-availability on-premise and virtualized OS environments.
  • Ensure operating system and network device patches are deployed for platforms when scheduled and provide remediation for failed patching efforts.
  • Coordinate with management/stakeholders for maintenance window timing and execution.
  • Assist system administrators in issue diagnosis and resolution.
  • Create the required design and support documentation for projects, system builds, processes and changes.

About You

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years working in a network engineering role.
  • Minimum 3 years administrating Windows and/or Linux Servers. Virtualization is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years working in an enterprise-level mission-critical environment designing, building network solutions in heavily virtualized environment.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in supporting private/public and/or hybrid cloud solutions (AWS preferred).
  • Advanced understanding of Windows operating systems and Windows Server roles.
  • Working experience in performance monitoring and troubleshooting Windows servers.
  • Advanced understanding of hybrid and full cloud infrastructure technologies (AWS preferred).
  • Advanced understanding of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions.
  • Advanced understanding of storage administration (object storage, block storage, file storage and other modern storage technologies).
  • Must have working knowledge of networking technologies (TCP/IP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, layer 2/3 switching, VLAN, VXLAN, inter-VLAN routing, LACP, Etherchannel and other advance networking concepts).
  • Advanced understanding designing, building, and managing multi-tier streaming architectures; compute, storage, network. 
  • Ability to develop, document, and/or provide training to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Routing (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF).
  • Cisco Switching (C7000, Nexus 9000, 5000, and 3000 series switches and Catalyst 3650, 3850).
  • Arista Switching/Routing (7100, and 7000 series).
  • Cisco ASA and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Cisco Any Connect and 2 Factor Authentication (RSA SecurID or similar).
  • TACACS\Radius Server authentication.
  • Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN).
  • Network performance monitoring tools and traffic analyzers.
  • Networking Security Best Practices.


Working Conditions:

  • This is a permanent position based in Stockley Park.
  • Working hours are 9:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday.
  • There will be occasions that you will be requested to work out of the normal office hours and/or be asked to participate in travel.
