Lead Re-recording Mixer / Head of Training & Development
An exciting opportunity for a Lead Re-recording Mixer to join the team at our newly established, state-of-the-art post production facility.

Pip Studios is a newly established, independent audio post-production company opening a brand new, state-of-the-art facility based on the outskirts of London.

We are proud to be the UK's first purpose-built audio facility with six Atmos stages offering clients unrivalled capacity. We provide audio post-production for feature films, television, gaming and streaming services.

Job Summary


In this role you will responsible for mixing all theatrical and episodic content for various clients across a broad range of audio formats. You will need to be versed in using the latest technologies including DANTE Networked Audio and DDP servers.


You will also manage the training and development programme for the junior crew members and freelancers. This is an extremely important role, ensuring Pip Studios are leaders in our field at mentoring and training crew to the highest of standards, and therefore delivering an unrivalled service to our clients.  


You must be self-motivated and committed to the company’s values. Leadership and communication skills are vital in this role, as the team will look to you for guidance, advice and problem solving. It’s important to be organised intuitive and adaptable to changes that may arise on a daily basis.  

Duties and Responsibilities

Head of Training & Development 

  • As the Head of Training & Development you will be responsible for the mentoring and development of the junior crew. You will create training programs and materials that will help aid their training

  • You will make sure there is constant improvement in training programs and initiatives
  • You will be required to work closely with various employees in developing unique and effective training solutions specific to the audio department, you will introduce support and guidance to the junior members of the team, enabling them to better execute their duties by sharpening their skills
  • Evaluate the junior crew on a regular basis and identify areas where more training is required enabling them to progress effectively in their role
  • Based on your evaluations, plan and implement further training programs that will prepare employees for the next step of their career 
  • Oversee the freelance pool of mixers and ensure they have adequate training and resources available, enabling them to work competently within the facility.

Lead Re-recording Mixer
  • You will also be responsible for mixing all theatrical content in all audio configurations using Avid Pro-tools 10.X or above. This includes Dolby Atmos, 7.1, 5.1 and 2.0
  • Responsible for mixing Theatrical feature films and Episodic TV in multiple languages across various delivery specs as requested by clients
  • Responsible for delivering finalised material in all audio formats, i.e. Pro-Tools sessions in (Atmos 7.1 5.1 2.0)
  • Responsible for managing yourself and your schedule to meet the deadlines set by supervisors or schedulers. These deadlines may sometimes be last minute and/or at weekends, so you will need to be flexible with clients’ needs and requests throughout their project
  • Making sure attending clients are aware of all house rules procedures and security aspects within the studio
  • Keep up to date with all correspondence across the project you are working on from clients, team members and the management team. And making sure you have all the necessary assets to complete your work.

Skillset Requirement

  • Excellent leadership skills with an ability to nurture natural talent
  • Good communicator both written and verbally, with a broad range of knowledge of MS office programs
  • Experienced in training and developing junior team members to help meet the business needs
  • Competent in drafting informative training programs and documents for referral as training guides
  • Flexible work ethic in line with the studio schedule, this will include shift work and or weekend work when required
  • Commitment to delivering clients deadlines which may change from time to time, requiring you to work beyond your contracted hours
  • 6+ years’ experience mixing Theatrical audio in a professional post-production environment
  • An excellent working knowledge of Avid Pro-Tools Ultimate
  • A strong understanding and experience in mixing Theatrical content in the following formats, Dolby Atmos 7.1, 5.1, 2.0
  • Excellent knowledge of Avid audio consoles including the S6
  • Must have an excellent understanding of audio processing needed for mixing, such as Dynamics EQ and Reverb packages
  • Strong technical understanding of digital file formats, audio sample rates, bit rates and timecode.
