In this role, you'll be tasked with growing and implementing commercial strategies from across the wider business including The Times, The Sun, Wireless radio stations; Times Radio, talkRadio, talkSport Virgin Radio and The Fifth influencer agency.

The Team: Bridge Studios are the commercial creative content hub for News UK.  The Director of Video leads our commercial video strategy and execution.


Your Role: You will be tasked with growing and implementing commercial strategies from across the wider business including The Times, The Sun, Wireless radio stations; Times Radio, talkRadio, talkSport Virgin Radio and The Fifth influencer agency. To do this you must be able to develop and maintain interbusiness relationships with a strategic vision and focus, and be able to maximise on opportunities to drive new revenue streams.


As well as delivering all advertising video across our portfolio, your team will also execute content marketing strategies for our owned brands with a view to drive action from our audiences. This requires a deep understanding of publishing both socially and onplatform. 


You will work closely with the Content Director and Events Director from Bridge Studios to harmonise processes and instil a positive culture of drive, inclusivity, constant development and strive to maintain industry leadership. 


Day to day:

  • Develop relationships with existing clients and maximize on opportunities to generate new business

  • Liaise between internal departments, team leads, and clients on service delivery

  • Provide regular insight and reporting to the General Manager of Bridge Studios 

  • Meet with other video video team leads regularly to share knowledge and business resource 

  • Deliver proactive recommendations with regard to evolution and development of the business

  • Work closely with commercial directors to identify areas for growing the production delivery offering

  • Ensure expert knowledge and production resources are kept up to date by conducting industry research and attending industry-recognised events

  • Enhance overall production standards whilst maintaining a competitive cost-base

  • Develop a strategic and cost-effective approach to manage our external vendor relationships (creative agencies, video/audio, image and art buying, etc)

  • Provide guidance and requirements for resource levels according to business needs

  • Work with planners and distributors to ensure best practice video distribution takes place 

  • Lead integration of wider agency skills and resources into relevant projects.

 

What we are looking for from you: 

  • Experienced in leading an agency style business 

  • Significant experience and in-depth understanding filmmaking and video publishing

  • Experience managing direct reports–including providing consistent feedback and conducting performance evaluations

  • Strong experience leading and motivating colleagues in a manner that enhances working relationships and encapsulates the company brand and values

  • Proven client relationship skills and ability to support stakeholders across an organization

  • Personable, credible and able to establish trust with team members

  • Video output experience with expert technical understanding of systems

  • Excellent communication are a must to build and maintain relationships

  • Experience managing day-to-day changes at every level of detail

  • Familiarity with labour union rules 

  • Excellent supplier/vendor knowledge, contract negotiation skills and knowledge of market pricing
