Senior Production Cost Specialist
As a key member of the Strategic Sourcing team, the Production Cost Specialist will be responsible for all procurement activities related to Physical Production. 

Job Summary:
This role is a full time fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave. You will work hand in hand with key stakeholders including creative, production management, legal and finance colleagues across all areas of TV production in EMEA with a specific focus on supporting original programming for Disney+.

You will work with the business to establish benchmarks costs for crew and production equipment. Working with stakeholders and use these benchmarks to review and challenge budgets submitted by our production company partners. Additionally, you will be required to develop and maintain an ‘approved’ vendor list for key production commodities, which can be socialised internally and with our production company partners.

You will work closely with Sourcing colleagues across our main EMEA markets to establish best practices and facilitate knowledge sharing. Similarly, you will collaborate closely with Sourcing Colleagues Domestically and across the other International regions, APAC & LATAM.

Success will be measured on a “Total Value” basis. This includes financial measures and mitigation of risk. You will also need to make sure the Company’s reputation is preserved though vendor compliance with Company standards and polices, compliance with Company’s code of conduct, IP protection, privacy protection, information security and environmental compliance among others.

Disney is investing heavily in original programming to support Disney+. This is a relatively greenfield commodity within an established Sourcing team, so this is a great opportunity to help set our future direction in this area.

  • Be the point of contact within Sourcing for the Production teams for the UK and provide support to the regional production teams
  • Perform external market research and utilise internal data points to develop a cost benchmarking database for physical production commodities primarily for UK
  • Co-ordinate with local Sourcing teams to collect comparable benchmark data for main our EMEA markets outside UK (France, Italy, Germany and Spain)
  • Review production budgets submitted by 3rd party production companies to identify opportunities to optimise cost
  • Work with key creatives and production management team to challenge vendors on aspects of the budget, and encourage / coach them to competitively bid big ticket items as appropriate
  • Prepare and execute clear, structured negotiations
  • Develop and maintain an ‘approved’ vendor list for key production commodities, which can be socialised internally and with our production company partners
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends and conditions in the physical production space and understand how these affect suppliers, cost of goods/services, pricing, and the resulting impact to clients
  • Ensure compliance with sourcing policies, company standards and best practices
  • Leverage global scale and adhere to global categories where applicable
  • Demonstrate in self the highest professional and ethical standards, to positively impact the reputation of Strategic Sourcing in the territory
  • Support the Senior Manager in developing long term category strategy and strategic category plans for production EMEA (Category Strat plans, 5YP and AOP).

Skills & Experience:
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of content production for TV and experience managing related procurement activity
  • Ability to quickly earn the trust of key stakeholders through your subject matter knowledge, keeping commitments and problem solving
  • Ability to effectively communicate strategic value of sourcing to key stakeholders across multiple Bus
  • Excellent facilitation and project management skills and the ability to juggle a number of tasks and projects at the same time
  • Ability to analyse data and use this to develop sourcing opportunities
  • Ability to apply market knowledge to create extra value for stakeholders
  • Experience developing and implementing sourcing strategies and leading supplier negotiations
  • Able to deal with ambiguity, will need to help create the structure and process and have a willingness to get stuck in
  • Good understanding of Finance
  • Good understanding of legal aspects related to procurement contracts
  • Proven experience with a record of providing procurement support to physical production.
