Systems Administrator

Picture Shop UK is looking for an experienced Systems Administrator (with DevOps experience) able to work in a diverse and highly agile environment, at the elite level of Studio Feature post production.

Overview of Role:

Key duties will include maintaining integrity of the network, server, storage and workstation deployment in a primarily Linux/Unix environment, whilst keeping a conscious eye on security.

Developing and supporting our VMs, system imaging and centralised config management systems, support ticket tracking, change management and systems development. Input on the design and implementation of projects will be expected, as well as the ability to be an intrinsic part of their success.

With a broad range of post services and platforms, global reach, teamworking and outlook, the candidate must be a self-motivated team player, prepared to share knowledge and help develop the skills of others across all Streamland businesses both in the UK and across the wider group.

Candidates must be natural problem solvers who understand the criticality of service uptime and client service environments. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy infrastructure using docker and docker-compose on VMware (vSphere), AWS, Azure. Using Git CI/CD
  • Administer key infra services: DNS, DHCP, Gitlab, docker registries (Harbor), PyPI registries, artifact repositories (nexus), Active Directory Authentication
  • Work alongside and support the development team and Ci/Cd GitLab workflow
  • Configuration management using Salt stack and Terraform
  • AD configuration management and integration. Azure AD, Intune / SCCM and PowerShell scripting a bonus
  • Configuration, change and deployment management using Salt (Ansible a bonus).

Key Requirements:

  • Proven track record of resolving basic issues associated with system configuration management, resource sharing and basic networking concepts
  • Experience with cloud environments, AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Experience with Kubernetes architectures and HA applications
  • Experience running webservers, databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), MQ (RabbitMQ)
  • Proficient with Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Storage support, management, configuration and optimization
  • Experience across VFX domain/render farms
  • IP Switches, Routers and Firewalls (Juniper/Mellanox/Fortinet)
  • Experience with SOC procedures and monitoring tools like Elasticsearch and Zabbix 
  • Good documentation and communication skills. Agile knowledge beneficial
  • A broad experience base and hands on approach is preferred, with solid system administration fundamentals and an ability to be an independent thinker and problem solver.

The role is critical to meeting client deadlines and requires a flexible approach to hours and days worked.
