What will you be doing?

Your duties will be wide and varied. They will include engineering project work, expertly managed and delivered to time, supporting negotiations of agreements, manage support contracts with good partnership to achieve performance and value from suppliers and working closely and supporting colleagues in other department across the business who use or rely on our technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify new technologies and technology strategies so that Media Technology is a hub of innovation and a trusted source of advice and ideas relevant to the business
  • Create and implement best practice, governance, security and operational deployment approach for Cloud operations
  • Effectively manage the small in-house Media Technology team to provide  leadership, resource planning and their development so they can meet the needs of the business
  • Support Cloud technologies, scripting, coding and data driven best practice through identifying, promoting and implementing required Skillset changes
  • Oversight, support and continuous improvement of the broadcast and post production systems, network, applications, software etc that combine to provide the business with a technical platform for our content
  • Responsible for managing the media technology budget, planning responsibly for the future, maximising efficiency and delivering on savings
  • Responsible for defining best practice, processes and procedures and ensuring they are met
  • Collaborate to help define and implement a structured change management protocol
  • Setting standards for knowledge sharing, documentation and other key processes to ensure that technology information is Captured, stored and updated and that Systems are monitored and managed effectively
  • Third party supplier and facility management
  • Advice and support for technology issues across the business
  • Engineering project work, expertly managed and delivered to time, cost and quality requirements
  • Support and pitch technology solutions for new business activity
  • To be the subject matter expert on media technology, broadcast video, standards, formats, procedures, development etc.
  • Support negotiations of agreements, manage support contracts with good partnership to achieve performance and value from suppliers
  • Maintain robust support and escalation procedures
  • Will need to lead by example by being on the ground when required
  • Work closely and support colleagues in other department across the business who use or rely on our technology
  • Work very closely with the corporate-IT team
  • Part of the senior operations team that provides leadership and strategy to both the Technology and Operations team as well the wider business.


Person Specification


Qualifications

Essential:    

  • Degree-level qualification in engineering, computer science/media technology or equivalent experience.


Desirable:

  • ITIL/PRINCE2/AGILE
  • AWS Associate Certification
  • Scripting Java/Python.


Knowledge/Skills:

Essential:

  • Excellent understanding broadcast IT systems, architecture and software
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing and data-driven workflows
  • Excellent understanding broadcast IT systems, architecture and software
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing and data-driven workflows
  • Excellent understanding of solution design and architectural approaches across cloud, on-premises and hybrid systems
  • Excellent knowledge of post- production, digital and broadcast workflows
  • Excellent communication skills with open approach to imparting information in an understandable manner to people of all levels across the business
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of technology market offerings and contacts
  • Knowledge of video formats and transcoding
  • Team management and leadership
