OTT & VOD Systems Engineer

We're looking for an experienced OTT & VOD Systems Engineer to work within the OTT & VOD systems engineering function.

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday)

 

Reporting to: OTT & VOD Systems Engineering Lead


Location:  Chiswick, London.

Main Purpose:

Working within the OTT & VOD systems engineering function, designing and deploying cutting edge resilient solutions, developing toolsets to comprehensively monitor and manage these solutions, and aid effective operational support to ensure business and customer success.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expert capabilities across our OTT and VOD solutions portfolio, and as such acting as a technical escalation point within the business
  • Ensure systems engineering tasks are suitably planned and prioritised, adhering to customer and internal stakeholder requirements and deadlines. Alignment with ITIL best practices, along with agile project methodologies, will be essential
  • Act as a key interface to Support for customer incidents and planned changes, ensuring escalated tasks are planned in as a priority with existing project-based commitments. Undertake preventative/corrective maintenance to ensure all broadcast services are fully operational 24x7, including working with third party vendors as needed. At times this will require out of hours unplanned availability
  • Act as a key interface with Projects and Solutions for new customer designs and deployments. Ensure all engineering requirements are captured to provide the best possible solution, strongly advocating automated and repeatable deployment mechanisms, plus increased monitoring and analytics visibility
  • Documentation driver, promoting empowerment within operational support to effectively manage solutions with minimal escalations. Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation of systems installations and configurations.

 

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and working hands-on with OTT and VOD solutions
  • Experienced investigating challenging problems in complex E2E systems, with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with ITIL best practices, and how to harness these within systems/project engineering
  • Educated to Degree level in an Engineering/Broadcast related discipline, or equivalent work-based experience
  • Highly proficient in Linux system administration
  • Experience in administering public Cloud infrastructure such as AWS or Azure
  • Experience in administering virtualisation software such as VMware or Openstack
  • Proficient in a scripting language is advantageous
  • Experience in configuring NGINX, Apache or Varnish software as a web server and/or Cache
  • Experience in using CI/CD toolsets such as Ansible, Git, Jenkins, Packer, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience in deploying and administering Elasticsearch, Kibana and Grafana.
