Technology Director, Studios

The Technology Director at ITV Studios plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the technology strategy that underpins our content creation, production, and distribution.

ITV Studios is one of the biggest global creators, producers and distributors of TV content in the world.


Growing our UK and global production base is central to our More than TV strategy. We are the largest producer in the UK, one of the largest producers in Europe and one of the largest independent unscripted producers in the US. ITV Studios’ UK division includes 27

production labels, creating and producing a diverse range of scripted and unscripted content for a wide range of broadcasters and streaming platforms.


Within ITV Studios is our Global Partnerships function, which further adds to our creative and financial success by developing international hit formats and distributing our 90,000+ active catalogue hours of film and television content to buyers such as broadcasters, streaming platforms, airlines and many more. The role

This role requires a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of the global media and entertainment landscape, coupled with strong technical expertise and a passion for innovation. The Technology Director will lead a team responsible for the design, implementation, and support of technology solutions that enable ITV Studios to produce and deliver world-class content efficiently and effectively.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Leadership:

  • Develop and implement the technology strategy for ITV Studios, aligning with overall business objectives
  • Provide leadership and direction to the technology team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends, and assess their potential impact on ITV Studios
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives to optimise workflows, enhance content delivery, and create new business opportunities.


Technology Delivery & Operations:

  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of technology solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements, are scalable, and cost-effective
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the technology department, including infrastructure, systems, and applications
  • Working closely with other Technology teams within ITV eg Group Technology


Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across ITV Studios and acquired production companies, including production, operations, and commercial teams, to understand their technology needs and priorities.


Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively, including managing P&L, Opex and Capex budgets.


Key Criteria:

  • Extensive experience in a senior technology leadership role within the content production industry
  • Deep understanding of content creation, production, and distribution workflows.
  • Strong technical expertise in areas such as:
    • Studio and location production
    • Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure)
    • Media asset management (MAM) systems
    • Non-linear editing systems (Avid, Adobe)
    • Post-production workflows
    • Digital distribution platforms
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex technology projects
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the media and entertainment industry
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing technology teams
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.


Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and blockchain
  • Understanding of enterprise technologies eg Salesforce, Rights Management tools, Cloud
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Experience working in a global organisation.
