VP, Communications Strategy

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic communications leader to drive our narrative and external positioning across our diversified media and entertainment portfolio.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The ideal candidate will be a master communicator, industry connector, and strategic thinker capable of crafting and executing sophisticated communication strategies that elevate our brand and business objectives. The role will manage teams and external resources across the US and UK to ensure the development of a resonant and consistent global company story.

REPORTS TO:
  • This position reports directly to the Chief Strategy Officer (with a secondary reporting relationship with the Chief Operating Officer, UK).

Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Narrative and Positioning Strategy
  • Develop, implement, and evangelize a comprehensive company-wide communication strategy that clearly articulates the company's unique value proposition and how that value proposition is understood both internally and externally
  • Create overarching messaging frameworks that differentiate the company in the media and entertainment landscape
  • Partner with leaders across the business to synthesize complex business objectives across key operating units to establish clear and consistent storytelling
  • Establish a distinctive company-level narrative that resonates across company platforms and initiatives across both the US and UK.

External Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with and manage external communications resources across both the US and UK to ensure overall industry coverage and maximize operating efficiency and impact
  • Manage relationships with key external constituencies (including media outlets and journalists, industry thought leaders, regulatory bodies and industry associations) through targeted outreach strategy
  • Build and maintain a robust external network that consistently amplifies the company's objectives.

Media Relations and Public Representation
  • Develop and manage media response protocols
  • Develop an executive visibility strategy that further advances corporate communications strategy; coordinate and prepare leadership for proactive or reactive media interactions
  • Pitch and secure strategic media opportunities
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and sentiment
  • Create media training programs for key organizational leaders
  • Develop comprehensive media tracking and reporting mechanisms
  • Draft press releases or other strategic communications as necessary.

Crisis Communication and Risk Management
  • Design and implement proactive crisis communication strategies
  • Develop rapid response protocols for potential reputation-threatening scenarios
  • Create comprehensive crisis communication playbooks
  • Conduct regular risk assessments of potential communication vulnerabilities
  • Manage real-time communication during critical incidents
  • Develop recovery and reputation restoration strategies.

Internal Communications and Advisory
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the executive team and co-CEOs on communication and reputation management
  • Partner with the People team to develop comprehensive internal communication systems
  • Help create channels for transparent and effective organizational communication
  • Develop internal messaging that aligns workforce with corporate objectives
  • Facilitate cross-departmental communication and alignment.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise:
Professional Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive communications experience in media, entertainment, or adjacent industries
  • Proven success developing comprehensive communication strategies across multiple platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively at senior organizational levels
  • Track record of managing complex, multi-dimensional communication initiatives
  • Experience and knowledge operating in both the US and UK markets preferred.
