A+E Networks UK are looking for a Programme Scheduler for their History2 brand. You will need to be a dynamic, motivated and forward-thinking individual. You will need to be able to work to tight deadlines, have the ability to analyse and interpret audience research data and be familiar with a major scheduling  or planning system, ideally BSS and/or WON. 

Your duties will include managing programme inventory ensuring best use of runs available, generate creative solutions to schedule needs and issues, including coming up with promotable stunt ideas, as well as deputising for the Programme Schedule Manager when necessary.

The History2 Scheduler UK, Pan Europe & Russia will implement, distribute, and maintain commercially astute programme schedules, aligned with our strategy, and help the UK channels to meet impact targets.  You will also be a key point of contact for the channel brand/s.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate, input, communicate and maintain commercially sound programme schedules.

  • Assist the Head of Scheduling and History Schedule Manager to generate long-term schedule plans and be responsible for scheduling specific schedule day-parts as required.

  • Generate creative solutions to schedule needs and issues, including coming up with promotable stunt ideas.

  • Assist in the maintenance of competitive trackers to monitor forthcoming programming events and competitor activity in order to aid schedule decision-making.

  • Develop a strong awareness of audience viewing patterns and behaviours, identifying and reporting risks and opportunities for schedule development.

  • Manage programme inventory ensuring best use of runs available.

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of all content placed on the channels.

  • Work closely with the Programming team in the Polish office to coordinate schedules between Pan Europe, Poland and Hungary.

  • Work co-operatively and pro-actively with other departments across the business and be the primary point of contact for schedule related queries.

  • Assist in the evaluation of new content for the channel.

  • Present channel schedules at internal meetings as required.

  • Deputise for the Programme Schedule Manager when necessary.

Additional duties:                          

  • Ensure the channel’s contingency plans are maintained in constant readiness.

  • Ensure distribution lists are kept up to date.

  • Create accurate series links across all our channels to drive consolidated viewing on Sky Plus, Virgin and BT PVR functions.

  • Update BSS and WON with changes to titles or licence date updates.

  • Maintain the EPG feedback sheets and act as the point of contact for Sky EPG so that they may complete edits in BSS as appropriate.

  • Schedule teleshopping on the channels as required.

  • Conduct the ‘as-runs’ process on a daily basis.

  • Assist Programme Schedule Managers with schedule amendments.

  • Provide support for the Programme Schedule Manager in preparing documents and materials for meetings.

  • Attend cross-network meetings as required.

  • Provide holiday leave cover.

  • Additional ad-hoc tasks as requested by the Programme Schedule Manager.



You will have:

  • Experience in working for a UK broadcaster in a scheduling, research or planning function.

  • The ability to analyse and interpret audience research data.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; to filter relevant information and deliver concisely to relevant people across the business / externally.

  • Possess strong creative skills, commercial savvy and sound editorial judgement.

  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organisation skills.

  • Familiarity with a major scheduling  or planning system, ideally BSS.

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, and flexibility to cope with changing priorities.
