OB Guarantee Engineers & OB Engineers

RaceTech are seeking OB Guarantee Engineers and OB Engineers to fulfil a wide range of engineering tasks on location covering live horse racing events.

About the Role

We are seeking OB Guarantee Engineers and OB Engineers to  be responsible for engineering tasks including video and audio signal quality, camera racking, communications, links, rigging, testing, establishing external feeds, and troubleshooting.


OB Guarantee Engineers:

You will have overall responsibility for ensuring all technical facilities are delivered on time and to the highest possible standards, including leadership of the engineering team, deployment of the OB Unit, guaranteeing responsibility for all inputs and outputs and ensuring signal delivery. It is expected that the Guarantee Engineer will cover Unit Managers on occasions after gaining suitable experience.

OB Engineers:

You will support the Guarantee Engineer and Unit Manager on-site and assist other members of the crew to ensure delivery of a high-quality service. OB Engineers will also cover Guarantee Engineers after gaining suitable experience.


About You

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of Outside Broadcast and live sports broadcasting desirable
  • Knowledge of HD-SDI and/or IP Broadcast systems
  • Familiar with key broadcast systems such as camera channels, matrices, switchers etc.
  • Competent in use of electrical supply systems typically up to 63 amp single phase
  • Experience with end-to-end signal flow of broadcast camera systems, broadcast matrices, switchers, talkback and ‘glue’
  • Practical approach to problem-solving to rectify faults and/or establish a ‘work-around’
  • Physically fit to manually move equipment to all appropriate locations
  • Able to plan tasks and prioritise effectively
  • Willingness to educate, develop and mentor junior/trainee engineers
  • Comfortable with working at heights, in isolation and exposed to the weather
  • Adept at MS Office
  • Ideally a good working knowledge of horse racing.



  • Degree level of education in engineering or media/broadcast or similar
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, be part of a team plus a proactive ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Willingness to travel and to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays
  • A full clean UK driving licence preferable, HGV would be desirable 
  • Applicants must live within 30 minutes’ drive of one of either of our current operational bases at Raynes Park, SW London or Lingfield Park Racecourse; or be prepared to relocate.

  • Salary: £40-£50k dependent on experience, full-time, permanent.
