Key Account Manager Broadcast

We have an exciting opportunity for a Key Account Manager to join our Broadcast Licensing team working across at our Streatham and King's Cross offices.

About the Role

Our Key Account Managers act as the main point of contact for our key broadcast customers, ensuring they have the required licences in place to deliver their services. They proactively identify and resolve any gaps in their licensing requirements. 

The successful candidate will lead or support (as required) negotiations with key, high value, broadcast accounts and will prepare detailed analysis for commercial discussions, ensuring that the approach in negotiations is in line with our agreed broadcast licensing strategy. Our Key Account Managers form close working relationships with our higher value broadcast licensees, maximising revenues and increasing licensing penetration whilst delivering first class customer service.

In this role you will:  

  • Carry out or oversee data analysis looking at music usage, viewing trends and other key factors to support negotiations with the highest value broadcast accounts and the development of broadcast licensing schemes.
  • Act as a key point of contact with Legal, leading the business input into the drafting of licence contracts for managed accounts.
  • Coordinate processing activities (e.g. reporting, invoicing, distribution) with other internal departments for all managed accounts.
  • Prepare decision papers for internal boards and committees and present these where appropriate.
  • Provide excellent customer service for portfolio of broadcast accounts, developing effective working relationships with customers through face-to-face meetings and telephone contact.
  • Pro-actively identify licensing leads and convert these into licences.
  • Assess broader licensing opportunities and undertake work to target specific market segments.
  • Train and coach other members of the B&O team
  • Engage with key members regarding the application of licensing schemes, carefully managing sensitive areas of licensing such as excluded works, mechanical rights restrictions and mandate and territory extensions, ensuring that broadcast accounts remain informed.
  • Prepare decision papers for internal boards and committees, presenting as required.
  • Contribute to the budgeting process by proposing values for managed accounts, with supporting analysis and the provision of regular performance updates.


About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in negotiation and account management. You will have the ability to understand and interpret complex data, with the confidence to present information in a clear and concise way. 

You will have excellent knowledge of relevant industries and music rights, including good understanding of copyright law. You will be a highly motivated individual who is able to work to deadlines and within a fast-paced environment.

Part of this role will require you to proactively seek out opportunities to present and network on behalf of PRS for Music, confidently presenting the organisation on relevant topics to a variety of audiences, at music industry degree courses, regional seminars for licensees, trade bodies and membership organisations. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have strong relationship building skills which is demonstrated by your ability to build rapport with clients and communicate effectively.

Additional skills include:

A good understanding of all Microsoft Office software, target orientated, highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent in influencing, persuasive and assertiveness skills. Has the ability to supervise activities of other members of the team and excellent numeracy and literacy skills.


  • Graduate level education or equivalent.
