This is a fantastic opportunity to join our brand new team at the heart of Channel 4's outsourced content operations.

About the Role
The Media Operators will review and judge the technical quality of Channel 4's content, logging detailed information and performing straightforward fixes and re-mastering (editing) of the content if required.

As part of the team responsible for the operation of end to end media workflows, the Media Operators will work with a range of systems, including CLEAR™ and other industry standard tool-sets including Adobe Premiere to deliver an efficient, accurate and professional media operations service.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To ingest video tape from legacy formats, including lining up playback and cleaning heads.

  • To accurately enter detailed technical and content information into systems, including content descriptions for search engine and scheduling purposes.
  • To perform video/audio editing to a professional standard to fix faulty or failed media, and to create new versions of programmes if required by the customer. This may include adjustments to allow the content to pass PSE and loudness checks.
  • To swiftly and carefully process high value or very late/short timescale material, ensuring proper focus and that any risks are identified and escalated appropriately and in a timely fashion.
  • To develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues at all levels, focusing on teamwork and supporting others. To demonstrate excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence.
  • To follow all content and data security procedures and policies at all times to ensure the confidentiality of our customers’ content. To escalate immediately should any risk be identified.
  • To ensure detailed handovers to colleagues are prepared and communicated at the end of each shift.
  • For physical media (tapes or hard drives), to maintain well organised physical libraries, adhering to health & safety procedures, including those for lifting and handling and for the storage of physical tape. To handle video tapes and video tape machines according to best practice. To ensure arriving hard drives are quarantined until after virus checks are complete.
