MCR Manager

Run VT are seeking an experienced MCR Manager to be our MCR's first point of contact to the Post Producers and management. 


You will be responsible for the efficiency of the technical team, ensuring tasks are completed on time and best practices are maintained at all times

ABOUT THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising a team of tech assistants providing AVID support for offline and finishing suites
  • Delegate & oversee tasks and step in and help with when needed
  • Exporting from various tape and tapeless formats 
  • Ingesting from various tape and tapeless formats 
  • Conforming from various tape and tapeless formats 
  • Rigging, digitising and recording using a wide of VTRs
  • Duplication from various tapes formats 
  • Setting up finishing suites for layback to tape 
  • Carrying out tape transfers and standards conversions from various formats 
  • Maintaining and carrying out administrative tasks on the Avid Isis 
  • Qualify editing environment by preparing & setting up edit suites prior to project starting
  • Encoding and converting media using various encoder systems
  • Layoffs to a variety of tape formats meeting exact delivery requirements and broadcast specifications
  • DVD Authoring
  • QC’ing tape layoffs through a scope and waveform monitor to ensure legal technical requirements
  • Ensure that all feeds to and from the edit suites are set up correctly for the edits to run smoothly and problem free
  • Problem solving AVID errors in an efficient manner that keeps the loss of edit time down to a minimum
  • AS11 file delivery process in accordance to DPP guidelines
  • Training less experienced tech team members 
  • Checking all layoffs, encodes and digitising to ensure it matches with the request and is technically accurate
  • Media and project management on Avid Unity ISIS system
  • Keeping abreast of emerging technology
  • Working closing with the Managing Director and Director of Operations to create workflows for upcoming projects 
  • Working with the MCR Supervisor, Post Producers & Director of Operations to manage the work load and ensure deadlines are kept 
  • Ensuring internal processes and procedures within the tech department are adhered to and developing news ones as necessary
  • General IT maintenance on the edit systems and client computers, PC reinstalls as necessary, keeping them up to date, etc. 

ABOUT YOU

Key Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of AVID edit systems including Media Composer Adrenaline and Symphony Nitris & Nexis. (Essential)
  • Full understanding of television standards and how television works. (Essential)
  • Technical aptitude of AVID editing, encoding and decks. (Essential)
  • Logical and efficient approach to solving problems. (Essential)
  • Computer literate on WINDOWS – WORD, EXCEL etc. (Essential)
  • AVID installs and maintenance
  • File Delivery to DPP Spec
  • An understanding of 4K workflows
  • A good technical understanding of HDcam SR & HDcam Deck (Deck settings)
  • A general understanding of IT & Networking
  • Knowledge of FCP and/or Abobe Premier
  • DVD Authoring with Adobe Encore or other authoring software
  • General knowledge of Pro Tools
  • Managing a team
  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to identify, prioritise and solve problems
  • Able to work both autonomously and within a team
  • Eager and ready to learn
  • Self-motivated.
