Broadcast Manager

We are looking for an experienced Broadcast Manager with a proven track record of successful and innovative broadcast production and servicing experience within sport.

This role includes international travel, sometimes for extended periods and weekend work.

Billie Jean King Cup Limited (BJKCL) is a partnership between the International Tennis Federation and TWG Global created to deliver transformative investment and innovation to the Billie Jean King Cup. 


Bringing together expertise and experience from the tennis, business, and entertainment industries, our core mission is to grow and leverage the world’s most popular annual team competition for women as a platform for positive change.  


The Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge is the women’s World Cup of Tennis. Previously known as the Fed Cup, it is the largest annual international team competition in women’s sport, with a record 135 nations competing in 2023. 


Champions Canada took home an unprecedented $2.4m for their triumph at the 2023 Finals in Seville. 


Overview of Department:

It is the role of BJKCL to market and commercialise the Billie Jean King Cup and to work with the relevant ITF departments and the ITF’s member National Associations (NAs) to ensure that we deliver, market and promote world-class events that are seen as essential to players, nations and media.  


The Broadcast department works to ensure that we have the strongest possible relationships with the world’s leading broadcasters to ensure broad and premium coverage for our events.  


The Role: 

The ideal candidate has strong production and technical knowledge and is no stranger to managing broadcast projects from procurement to distribution. Relationship building and partner servicing as well as budget management and reporting will be key skills refined over your career.


Ideally the candidate will have worked in tennis but this is not essential.  You will be a positive team player with a hardworking attitude and a drive to deliver to the highest standard. You will embrace a hands-on approach and demonstrate confidence in order to work with a wide range of international stakeholders. 


Responsibilities: 

Production & Distribution:

  • Leading on Billie Jean King Cup Finals productions and international distribution; procurement of suppliers and negotiating rates to meet budget and partner servicing obligations
  • Managing relationships with Rightsholders and Broadcasters and working closely with both internal and external event managers
  • Overseeing “tie by tie” production, distribution and administration for all Billie Jean King Cup home and away rounds hosted by ITF
  • Communicating event and technical information to stakeholders
  • Driving innovation to elevate standards and make BJKC more visible across all video media
  • Working with relevant BJKCL and ITF Departments to oversee social/digital content creation at events and providing editorial opinion for additional content deliverables
  • Attending Billie Jean King Cup ties as required to help oversee media operations 
  • Stay well informed on new technologies, trends and broadcast models to assess their value for the BJKC 


Sales:

  • Working with the BJKCL CEO and ITF to identify Billie Jean King Cup sales markets, liaising with broadcasters and pushing production standards  


Administration & Financial:

  • Responsible for annual preparation and management of the TV production budgets; monitoring of income and expenditure and ensuring that targets are met and costs minimised
  • Procuring suppliers via transparent processes and within budgeting considerations
  • Supervising broadcast audit data collation to ensure accurate reporting to Management and external partners
  • Preparing strategy documents and reports for internal planning and analysis as required.


Skills required:

  • At least 4 years broadcast production and/or event and operations experience in a sport environment
  • Proven experience working with agencies and external suppliers
  • Demonstrable experience of managing large budgets
  • Open minded to new technologies and processes in the changing broadcast landscape
  • Tried and tested planning skills – ability to prioritise and work on own initiative
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with a professional approach
  • Sound knowledge of the current tennis landscape and good understanding of the industry dynamics
  • A good sense of humour and be a genuine team player
  • Flexibility. Hours can be long and weekend work and travel is part of the role.

Working hours: 

  • based on 35 hours per week with core hours of 10am-4pm Monday to Friday – flexible start & end times (although weekend work and longer hours are a part of the role when travelling)
