Assistant Editor, Late Night

We are looking for an Assistant Editor to take a leading role in developing and delivering compelling late-night programming.

GB News is Britain’s News Channel – a bold and fresh voice in UK broadcasting. We bring audiences the stories that matter, offering insight, analysis, and passionate debate across television, digital, and radio.


The Role:

You will work closely with presenters, producers, and technical teams to shape the content and tone of our late-night output, including Headliners, our newspaper review show. This is a fast-paced and creative role that requires editorial sharpness, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of what engages UK audiences in the late-night news cycle.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the editorial development and production of Headliners and other late-night news programmes
  • Lead a team of producers and journalists to generate original and engaging content
  • Ensure shows maintain high editorial and journalistic standards, aligned with GB News’ values and audience expectations
  • React swiftly to breaking news and ensure late-night programming remains dynamic and up to date
  • Collaborate with on-screen talent to refine content, scripts, and overall programme flow
  • Work with technical and production teams to ensure smooth broadcasts
  • Monitor audience engagement and feedback to continuously improve programming
  • Assist in scheduling, forward planning, and ensuring compliance with Ofcom regulations.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Strong background in broadcast journalism, preferably in a senior production or editorial role
  • News Judgment: Deep understanding of UK news, politics, and cultural issues, with the ability to shape engaging discussions
  • Leadership: Ability to manage and inspire a team under tight deadlines
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-moving news environment, responding to breaking stories
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of TV production workflows and live broadcasting
  • Creativity: Ability to develop fresh ideas for engaging late-night programming.
