Production Assistant

We're now looking for a Production Assistant (6 month fixed-term contract) to support the smooth and timely delivery of high-quality editorial content across the Guardian's digital platforms.

ou'll be part of a crucial team preparing our content for publication, and could be working on every kind of story – from global politics to climate change and international conflicts, to popular culture, tech advances and human-interest.


About the Role

As a Production Assistant, you'll help maintain the Guardian's high editorial, technical and design standards across our global digital platforms. Working as part of a 24/7 international team, you'll:

  • Respond to production requests and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Edit theguardian.com front pages and assist with newsletters
  • Support desks globally with digital best practices and breaking news production
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve editorial tools
  • Liaise with legal, editorial and commercial teams to process corrections, manage tagging, and ensure archival integrity
  • Deliver training and maintain user documentation
  • This is a hybrid role based in our London office, working a 9-day fortnight pattern including regular weekend shifts.


About You

  • Journalistic experience in a print or online environment
  • Understanding and enthusiasm for The Guardian's editorial values
  • Experience of working in a changing and pressurised environment
  • Knowledge of digital production
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm for and interest in digital journalism
  • Experience with content management systems
  • Ideally, you'll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role.

Benefits

You'll have 30 days of annual leave per year (pro rata). Our pension scheme is generous; if you contribute 5% then we will contribute 8–12% (depending on your age).
