Key responsibilities will include planning and directing shoots, working with talent, editing material on Premiere Pro, and working with craft editors to create feature content.
The ideal candidate should have a keen interest in high-end sports production and they should match this with research, technical and editorial know-how.
A passion and interest in the NFL, knowledge of the teams and players, and also of American Football gaming culture including Madden and EA Sports College Football is desirable.
A good standard of self-editing on Adobe Premiere Pro is vital and an ability to self-shoot on Sony A7S, FX3 or FX9 would be desirable.
Live gallery experience, and specifically VT Coordinating is also desirable.
Willingness to travel to the USA for shoots and events is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working as part of a busy production team across the NFL season, following the games, coming up with ideas and following those ideas through to production
- Organising single camera shoots, setting up locations, contributors, permissions and developing creative concepts
- Producing and self-shooting single camera shoots in the UK
- To quickly master the weekly workflow of NFL content, and play a central part in edit preparation, rough cutting on Premiere Pro, edit producing, and media management of the production
- Be a responsible member of the team, with an appreciation of the end-to-end production our output
- Reversioning broadcast content for social media
- Ensure all content is of a first-class standard, thoroughly researched and factually correct
- Work effectively with other departments, clients and partners (both internal and external), maintaining Whisper’s excellent relationships and communication
- Ensure that the output complies with Whisper’s editorial, technical, design and accessibility standards, whilst always working to the company’s Health and Safety policy
- Keep abreast of developments and current trends and make suggestions for creative content
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated ability and experience of producing engaging, entertaining, and creative features for digital platforms
- Experience of working within a production team on shows (or content) with regular output
- Knowledge of the NFL
- Knowledge and interest in the wider landscape of American Football culture, including fans, gaming, celebrity and fashion
- Experience of editing using Adobe Premiere Pro
- Experience in operating camera equipment desirable
- Experience working in a live gallery environment and VT Coording desirable
- Ability to use Adobe After Effects (basic)
- Ability to spot a good story, devise and develop strong creative ideas
- Ability to write clear and concise material for briefs and scripts
- Strong research techniques and the ability to verify the accuracy of material
- Strong knowledge of Whisper’s editorial guidelines and compliance policies, or a willingness to establish this quickly
- Experience with complex workloads, consistently prioritising and delivering to deadlines, reacting positively to changes and conflicts
- Strong communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- A demonstrable level of creativity with the ability to bring a fresh new approach to creating engaging and evolving output.
Working Days:
This is a 4:1 position, 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home.
Weekend Work Required throughout the NFL Season
International Travel to the United States required
Whisper offer the option of flexitime hours subject to production requirements
Lieu days will be given for any days worked over a five-day week.
