Senior MCR Operator

This role requires an understanding of all technological aspects of the production chain, from consultation, camera origination, to transfers and data integrity, with a focus on QC and delivery.

What does a Senior MCR Operator do at Hogarth?

The operator should be able to liaise between production and post teams to ensure processes and workflows are followed, so we deliver work in an efficient and timely manner and to the highest standard.


The ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Ingest, QC & delivery of content for broadcast, cinema social and digital platforms
  • Liaise with both production and post to keep on top of upcoming workflows so that rushes from shoots, edit preps, conforms and project collects are managed efficiently
  • Assist Editors with tasks such as syncing footage/audio for offline edit
  • Encode/Transcode files to spec
  • Scope, Waveform & Audio monitoring
  • QC of supplied edit and graphics projects to determine suitability for production
  • Create standards conversions using Alchemist
  • Overall responsibility for the technical quality of files created for distribution
  • Manage the life cycle of assets from ingestion to the archiving of projects. Help curate our physical media/drive library m the production server from the production server
  • Ensure our global way of working is followed and a high level of output is maintained.


Reporting lines and key stakeholders

The role of a Senior MCR operator is to support the Head of MCR and MCR Supervisor in all the operations within the MCR department across Creative Content and Adaption.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an MCR capacity in a post-production facility and/or agency
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast QC, delivery specifications and DAM/MAM solutions
  • Excellent understanding and demonstrable experience of working with compression, codecs, formats and deliverables
  • Excellent social platform knowledge from creative best practice to latest updates on formats and specs, across multiple platforms
  • Working knowledge of Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop
  • Working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve for prepping assets for edit and grade
  • Consistent attention to detail essential and strong organisational skills
  • A firm understanding of camera codecs, rushes ingest and workflow associated
  • Previous on-set experience as a DIT an advantage
  • Able to adapt to new working methods and technology advances, such as the use of AI and Automation
  • Excellent time management skills and multitasking abilities
  • Positive attitude towards problem solving and tight deadlines
  • Able to provide support to junior members of the team when required
  • Work on a shift rotation and have a flexible attitude towards the occasional out of hours & on location support.
