Join the multi award-winning EastEnders team as a Store-Based Prophand, where you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, story-driven content working effectively and flexibly across areas and disciplines to assist the Prop Master in the smooth running of the Propstore.
JOB DETAILS

  • CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, full-time, in store. This role is typically Monday to Friday, but some weeks will be Tuesday to Saturday.
  • DEPARTMENT: BBC Studios Drama Productions
  • LOCATION: London Elstree
  • PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £33,559 - £37,559 (plus London Weighting at £5441) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This hands-on role combines creative collaboration with the design and standby teams, logistical planning for studio and location shoots, and the use of digital systems to track and maintain prop inventory. With a strong focus on health and safety, cost efficiency, and adaptability, you'll help bring iconic stories of Albert Square to life in a multi-camera studio environment.

You will work effectively and flexibly across areas and disciplines to assist the Prop Master in the smooth running of the Propstore, taking responsibility for different props.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • Maintain and operate Propstore systems and resources, including the implementation of a new props database to support continuity and efficient resource use, while ensuring appropriate facilities are available during filming
  • Collaborate closely with the Design department, Prop Master, and other key stakeholders (Production Designers, Buyers, Art Directors, Construction Managers) to meet design requirements, maintain clean and tidy sets, and ensure props and scenery are delivered to specification and on schedule
  • Manage prop logistics and cost efficiency, including collecting and returning props, identifying cost-saving alternatives, and keeping the Prop Master informed of any variations to costs or schedules within budgetary and practical constraints
  • Ensure health and safety compliance on site and location, verifying that props and consumables are suitable for use and maintaining safe working conditions throughout production
  • PAT testing all small electrical plug-in devises for the sets and maintaining a date / renew log.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Provide flexible support across the site for both props and scenery to ensure smooth production operations, including working on setting and standby crews, dressing sets, taking continuity notes, and operating in studio, on lot, and on location
  • Maintain and operate Propstore systems and resources, including the implementation of a new props database to support continuity and efficient resource use, while ensuring appropriate facilities are available during filming
  • Collaborate closely with the Design department, Prop Master, and other key stakeholders (Production Designers, Buyers, Art Directors, Construction Managers) to meet design requirements, maintain clean and tidy sets, and ensure props and scenery are delivered to specification and on schedule
  • Manage prop logistics and cost efficiency, including collecting and returning props, identifying cost-saving alternatives, and keeping the Prop Master informed of any variations to costs or schedules within budgetary and practical constraints
  • Ensure health and safety compliance on site and location, verifying that props and consumables are suitable for use and maintaining safe working conditions throughout production
  • Full, clean, UK manual driving licence, preferably with experience in driving vans up to 7.5 tonne.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
  • Certificates in COSHH, Health and Safety and Basic Food Hygiene
  • Trained in Safe Working at Heights and Manual Handling
  • Experience in Teddy Truck and Forklift Operation.
