The Times and Sunday Times launched a dedicated London hub in early 2025, bringing together our existing coverage of the capital and adding value with original reporting, interviews, and features on the topics Londoners care the most about.
Day to day you will be:
Planning, commissioning, and editing original London content, including news, features, life & style and culture articles
Writing original content where appropriate
Liaising with freelance and commissioned writers on deadlines, edits, and payments where required
Managing internal news management system (Kordiam) for London section
Assisting with communication with the rest of the newsroom and identifying opportunities for social media and evergreen content Assisting the London editor with ideas for commercial opportunities and event programming
Assisting the London editor with management of reporters and graduates assigned to the London desk.
What we’re looking for from you:
Good news judgement, high quality writing and experience working as a commissioning editor
A knowledge of London’s cultural life and relevant media competitors
Experience publishing on multi-platform digital products
An ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and with rigorous accuracy
An understanding of how audience data supports commissioning and how to promote a story on social media and through search engines
A can-do attitude and strong inter-personal skills, with the ability to problem-solve and negotiate positive outcomes
Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
A strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues.
