TV Ad Operations Executive (EMEA)

The TV Ad Operations Executive is responsible for supporting the fulfilment of advertising on the BBC News channel and recently launched Out of Home BBC HD and BBC News channels.

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £30,000 + London Weighting (£5,441) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This role will ensure that efficient and effective support is in place to maximise revenues through the execution of customer campaigns for the BBC Studios sales teams.  The TV Ad Ops Exec role is responsible for TV advertising sales operational support, inventory management, and delivers compliance and reporting support for the European region.  The role is an integral operational and technical resource in enabling sales teams to sell compelling advertising campaigns and branded content across the channel and our OOH offerings.


The position is based in London and will report to the TV, FAST & Streaming Ad Operations Manager based in the London head office. Additionally, this role will help to establish and develop the necessary systems, processes, and business relationships associated with this objective to support growth in market.


The role requires an ability to work in fast paced environment and have knowledge and confidence to make critical business decisions. Attention to detail, as well as taking ownership are integral to this role.

 

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT: 

  • Responsible for the efficient fulfilment of customer orders including the trafficking of campaigns and revisions on BBC HD, BBC News OOH and the BBC News linear channel
  • Responsibility for creating and updating deals, campaigns, products, agencies, advertiser, and billing detail in the TV order management system, Mydas
  • Working with, and managing the relationship with our third-party sales team and OOH distribution team to execute deals using several order management systems
  • Careful management of client clashes between advertisers to ensure maximum capacity
  • Pre-compliance and technical checks on commercial spots, liaising with BBC News sales teams regarding checking plans/reporting/rebooking inventory
  • Responsibility for monthly pre-invoice checks, amendments to ensure all customers are invoiced correctly. Responsibility for tracking any loss of revenue due to booking or copy errors and ensuring processes are in place and being adhered to, to make good any losses
  • Work cross-functionally to collect editorial insights and collect data to make actionable recommendations to the sales teams 
  • Liaise with sales and internal creative teams on pre-sales campaign requests and proposals.
  • Finalizing the feeds before logs are sent, including rebooking of dropped spots, filling open availability and resolving booking disputes
  • Checking missing copy and liaising with BBC Studios traffic and affiliate sales to update the copy rotation inbox before logs are finalized
  • Work with Playout to accommodate copy change, take downs or compliance issues
  • Provide Ad Sales with pre or post logs or airtimes reporting when needed
  • Support for OOH platforms and Fast Channel opportunities.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Previous experience in traffic, scheduling, media planning or production management with a media owner strongly preferred
  • Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additional media software experience helpful
  • Ability to work within a team and on own initiative and a flexible and responsible approach to work. Efficient, organised and good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills and the confidence to liaise effectively, while managing the various relationships with client stakeholders
  • A pro-active approach to problem solving and innovation
  • Ability to multi-task within a competitive sales operations environment

 

DESIRED NOT REQUIRED: 

  • Knowledge of television advertising infrastructure and campaign management experience
  • Working knowledge of Airtime-Sales systems. Wide Orbit or Mydas preferable
  • Experience of VOD, OTT and FAST TV broadcast operations infrastructure an advantage.
