Head of Colour Support

We are seeking a Head of Colour Support to lead and develop our Colour Support department, ensuring our creative teams have the tools, workflows, and support to deliver outstanding work across multiple genres and formats

About the Role

As Head of Colour Support, you will combine people leadership, technical expertise, and commercial insight to maintain and enhance our colour grading environments. You will oversee monitor calibration, colour management workflows, and pipeline integrity across SDR, HDR, and emerging formats, while ensuring our colourists are fully supported to deliver exceptional creative results.

Working closely with Sales, Post Production Managers, Engineering/IT, and other Heads of Department, you will anticipate project requirements, optimise workflows, and ensure our department is aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Department Management

  • Lead and develop a team of four Colour Support specialists, fostering a collaborative and solution-focused culture
  • Provide mentoring, structured development, and clear direction to your team
  • Manage recruitment, training, and succession planning within the department.

Technical Oversight & Colour Science

  • Maintain technical integrity of all grading environments for optimal performance and reliability
  • Oversee monitor calibration standards for SDR, HDR, and Theatrical environments
  • Manage LUTs, colour transforms, and display profiling in collaboration with Engineering
  • Ensure consistent application of colour management workflows (ACES, Resolve/Baselight, etc.)
  • Apply core colour science principles, including colour spaces, gamuts, transfer functions, bit depth, and display technology limitations
  • Troubleshoot complex colour pipeline issues and act as a senior escalation point.

Project & Workflow Management

  • Maintain oversight of all projects through Colour Support
  • Collaborate with Sales, Post Production Managers, and technical teams to define pipelines and technical specifications
  • Ensure accurate and efficient turnovers across all project genres (features, HETV, broadcast, advertising)
  • Support resource allocation and scheduling to maximize efficiency.

Commercial & Strategic Responsibility

  • Embed commercial awareness within the team, balancing creative ambition with operational efficiency
  • Contribute to departmental budgeting and future investment planning
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and client experience
  • Support the company’s reputation for technical excellence and innovation in colour finishing.

Knowledge, Experience & About You

  • Extensive experience in DI/Colour Support (minimum 4 years) and post-production workflows, with a strong understanding of colour pipelines from ingest to delivery (ACES, Rec.709, Linear, LUT creation and application)
  • In-depth knowledge of Baselight; DaVinci Resolve experience desirable
  • Familiarity with camera formats, resolutions, aspect ratios, frame rates, codecs, and operating systems (Linux, MacOS, Windows)
  • Skilled with EDLs, XMLs, and AAFs, and capable of troubleshooting complex colour pipelines
  • Methodical, highly organised, and attentive to detail, with excellent problem-solving skills under pressure while maintaining a positive, collaborative approach
  • Proven leadership experience (minimum 3 years desirable), with the ability to mentor, develop, and manage a high-performing team
  • Commercially aware, technically proficient, and passionate about supporting creative teams to deliver exceptional results.
