WE ARE BBC STUDIOS

Our ambition is to be the home of the most powerful, entertaining, and inspiring stories for people all around the world.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Working closely with the Story Producer and wider editorial team, the Storyliner helps shape short and long‑term narrative arcs, responding to editorial notes and production demands. The role exists to ensure stories are character‑driven, authentic and dramatically engaging, sustaining EastEnders’ reputation for bold, relevant storytelling that resonates with its audience week after week.

STORYLINER TALENT POOL

The EastEnders story team is essential to the show's success. Recognised as the UK’s best Soap multiple times, we have increasingly high standards and want to work with exciting, innovative story talent whose depth of passion for EastEnders is as gripping as our stories.

This talent pool is an opportunity for us to reach out and engage with people who want to work in our story team.

Unfortunately, being selected for the pool doesn't mean that you will definitely end up working with us, but it does mean you will be considered when opportunities come up.

This application process is designed to give you the chance to try out your skills on our storylines. If you are invited to an assessment centre you will get to meet our producers and editorial team and can showcase your work to them as well as starting to build relationships.

If you are invited to work on EastEnders you will need to be based in BBC Elstree, London for the duration of the contract, or live within a commutable distance. Unfortunately we don't provide financial assistance for relocation or travel expenses.

  • Collaborate with the Story Producer and story team colleagues and suggest your own ideas to generate possible story and character material and work closely with research and script teams, ensuring all story material is factually accurate
  • Attend and contribute to long term quarterly story conferences, monthly story meetings, planning and commissioning meetings
  • Ensure EastEnders' creative vision is implemented consistently in all material
  • Address and solve story issues throughout the story/script process.

  • Evidenced ability to write clear, concise and unambiguous prose in keeping with the EastEnders in-house style

  • Proven ability to persuade and influence and resolve differences in professional opinions. An ability to take several different opinions in a story meeting and reach a common ground and work well as part of a team.

DESIRABLE:
