The Edit post production facility is hiring a Technical Operator!

About Us

The Edit is an established, full service post production facility positioned in the heart of Brighton’s bustling North Laine. We provide high quality post production service, from location DIT services through to final delivery. Our post house consists of 14 offline edit suites, three grade suites and two cutting edge dubbing theatres with VO, ADR and Dolby Atmos facilities.


We are proud to collaborate with our clients on an extensive range of projects from feature documentary to factual entertainment and drama for all the main UK broadcasters, worldwide streamers and cinema release. We are passionate about delivering outstanding results and providing friendly, first class services to our clients.


Most recently we've partnered on productions such as The Jury: Murder Trial (C4) The Hidden Treasures of the National Trust, Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr and The Repair Shop (BBC). Deep Dive Australia (natural history for Love Nature), Coastguard: Search and Rescue SOS (Five), The Facebook Honeytrap (Amazon Prime), More than Machine (YouTube) and My National Gallery (Cinema)


About the Role

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Technical Operator to join our friendly, hard-working team.


The successful candidate will already be working at a high technical level in a professional capacity within a shared Avid environment. We required ideally at least four years experience in a post production environment, and this is not an entry level role.


To be successful in this role you will be detailed orientated. You will be highly experienced in QC, legal blurring, conforms and media management and will play a pivotal role in our post-production workflow. An ability to be a team player and work accurately under pressure to tight deadlines is essential.


Accountabilities:

  • To work with the technical director and post producers, handling complex workflows for a variety of projects

  • Overseeing and organising the flow of media through the facility from ingest to delivery, including Nexis, nearline, and LTO management

  • Providing fast and friendly technical support (over phone, email and face to face) to our in-house and remote clients

  • Executing and overseeing QC and delivery of broadcast/cinema deliverables and ensuring highest quality standards and deadlines are met

  • Conforming, blurring, grouping/syncing

  • Preparing assets for a colour-managed grading workflow

  • Technical assistance to final post departments, ensuring smooth flow of assets through.


Experience:

  • Excellent knowledge of Avid Media Composer and Nexis Storage

  • Animation/blurring experience in both Mocha and Avid environments

  • Knowledge of colour managed workflows

  • Experience with DaVinci Resolve

  • Excellent IT skills.


Details:
  • Hours: Full time. Monday - Friday shift patterns, on call across rostered weekends
  • Location: Central Brighton (this is an in-person, not a remote working, role)
  • Start date: June/early July - asap
  • Contract duration: 6 months initially, with a view to extending
  • Salary: TBC dependent on experience.
