Senior Avid Technical Assistant

Radiant Post Production Group is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and attentive Senior Avid Technical Assistant to join our technical team.

You'll be rock-solid on the fundamentals of tech-assisting, ready to support a busy facility from day one, and keen to grow as the way we work evolves.

The ideal candidate has previous Avid edit-assisting experience and at least three years in a busy post-production facility, including at least two as a Technical Assistant.

The role

You'll provide technical support to our 50+ Avid offlines, online suites and remote edits — problem-solving issues as they arise and keeping close, clear communication with the Bookings department.

Day to day you'll be:

  • Carrying out conforms and creating client deliverables onsite
  • Syncing and grouping
  • Running technical checks (QC) on masters
  • Encoding files of all kinds (QuickTime, WMV, MPEG and others) via Avid, Adobe Media Encoder and DaVinci Resolve
  • Digitising / ingesting and conforming from a range of tape and tapeless formats
  • Maintaining and administering our EditShare and Avid Nexis storage.

What you'll bring

Proven skills across:

  • Supporting remote editing workflows (HP Anyware, Teradici or similar)
  • Avid AMA tapeless workflows
  • Media management — EditShare and Nexis administration
  • LTO archiving and restoring
  • File export and encoding
  • Avid installs and maintenance
  • File delivery to DPP spec (AS-11 and Vidcheck).

We're a busy facility, so you'll need to work quickly but accurately and be comfortable hitting tight deadlines. The role works on a rostered rotation of early and late shifts, with one weekend shift a month.

Where Radiant is heading

Radiant is an evolving facility. The core of this role is traditional tech-assisting done well — reliable delivery using proven methods — but we're also developing new tools and ways of working, and you'll be exposed to them as they mature. We're after someone rock-solid on the fundamentals and genuinely interested in where post-production is going, without needing to be a specialist in any one area.

It's also a role you can grow from. We actively develop our technical team toward the craft departments — online editing, grading and sound — so for the right person this is a route into post-production's creative roles, not a dead end.

In your cover letter, tell us what's caught your eye about how post-production is changing, and where you'd like to grow.

To apply

This role needs established industry experience and someone who can start soon, so we're not able to consider recent graduates on this occasion. Please send a CV and cover letter online, via grapevinejobs.
