Content Metadata Coordinator

The Content Data Coordinator researches, creates and maintains content metadata and IDs in the current content data management system to support BBC Studios’ commercial licensing activities.

PACKAGE DESCRIPTION

  • CONTRACT TYPE: 6 month Fixed Term Contract 
  • LOCATION – TVC - Hybrid role working from home & office
  • DEPARTMENT: Content Data Management
  • PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £25,200- £28,500 on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. Plus London Weighting Allowance of £5,441.The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Content Data Coordinator researches, creates and maintains content metadata and IDs in the current content data management system to support BBC Studios’ commercial licensing activities.  The data created and maintained by the Content Data Management Team supports commercial licensing activities and feeds into downstream systems and processes including Rights and Deal management, Asset management, Marketing, Licensing, Finance and Reporting. 


WHY JOIN THE TEAM

The Content Data Management (CDM) team is responsible for cataloguing and maintaining content and versions metadata in a database to enable commercial sales and distribution by the global sales teams.  There are many downstream systems which subscribe to the catalogue data via a feed meaning the CDM team are performing a vital function for BBC Studios.  

 

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

 

  • Researches, creates and maintains basic and detailed metadata, at all levels of the content hierarchy, for the audio and video content and products that BBC Studios distributes
  • Responds to queries and provides guidance to content stakeholders to progress and resolve issues
  • Creates and distributes regular and adhoc content reporting
  • Continually and proactively undertakes content research and data enhancement tasks and projects to improve the integrity and quality of content metadata
  • Undertakes data reconciliation activities to support migration of content data from legacy systems to the current content management system
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with content stakeholders in the Business promoting the team as subject matter experts
  • Promotes the current rights management system as ‘the single source of truth’; champions it’s data to reduce duplication across the company, and to ensure it is updated to reflect changes in BBC Studios’ activities, new ventures and the changing media landscape
  • Be adaptable to be able to perform key tasks on a team rota and working to tight deadlines.

 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role or data management; preferably in a media and/or metadata environment
  • Proven experience managing and coordinating large volume of media metadata
  • Data management skills, including experience with content/rights management systems, metadata management and large data sets
  • Good/intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Teams
  • Experience of liaising with internal and external parties to complete tasks accurately to deadline is desirable.
  • Proven customer service experience with a strong customer focused approach.


DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Experience of working in a media environment and/or knowledge of the current media landscape
  • Experience of working with contractual documents and legal language, particularly relating to acquisition, distribution and contributor rights
  • An understanding of BBC / BBC Studios content, acquisition and investment systems and processes
    Understanding of media landscape preferable.
