About us

Racecourse Media Group is the umbrella organisation for 35 racecourses which hold an interest in Racing TV (Sky 424, Virgin 536 and 411, Freeview and Youview 261), GBI Racing (international betting shop / digital service) and Racecourse Data Company (licensor of Pre-Race Data). In addition, content from 37 racecourses is distributed by Sports Information Services (SIS) to Licensed Betting Offices (LBO’s) in the UK and Ireland.

Job purpose

Racing TV are looking for a talented and experienced EVS Operator to join the Production team in their studio facility in Ealing. The main tasks of the role are routing, recording and playback of multiple incoming live feeds, from both UK & Irish racecourses, via the EVS system. Racing TV has a well-earned reputation for accomplished and stimulating programmes and the successful applicant will be in-tune with those goals to help push the channel forward.

Key responsibilities

Taking instruction from the Director and Producer and liaising with the Production team to create informative and entertaining programmes for our knowledgeable and dedicated audience
Using x 2, 10 channel, EVS’s to record, edit, clip and play back multiple incoming feeds from racecourses
Liaising closely with the Directors and Producers, often having to quickly “turn around” racing replays / interviews when asked
Comfortable using “Preview Control” to turn around racing replays and playout promotional breaks that are often flexible in duration
Create and edit highlights packages using stored EVS clips & playlist function
Building Racing Replay programme playlist to loop on the channel overnight
Using EVS IP Director to create new clips and search for and transfer existing clips to EVS.

Measures for the role:

Proven background as an EVS Operator in a live television production gallery environment
Strong attention for accuracy and detail
Competent people skills and comfortable taking instruction from Producer / Director
A consistent delivery of high-quality, error-free live broadcasts and an effective execution of running orders in a live environment
The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.

Experience

Essential experience:

Proven background /experience as an EVS Operator in a live television production gallery
Experience using EVS IP Director
Experience working with a range of live inputs and pre-recorded content
Experience collaborating closely with Producers and Directors.

Desirable experience:

Experience working within sports broadcasting, ideally live events.

Skills

Essential skills:

Strong communication skills
High level of attention to detail and editorial awareness
Ability to multitask and make quick decisions in a live environment.

Strong understanding of live broadcast workflows and gallery operations
Calm and composed under pressure, particularly during live broadcasts

Desirable competencies/behaviours:

Horse racing and betting industry knowledge
Passion for sports broadcasting.
