Tech & Edit Assistant

We are seeking a technically strong Tech & Edit Assistant to support our post-production environment, infrastructure, and creative workflows.

This role is primarily focused on post-production IT support, including servers, storage, networking, and hardware management, with edit assisting and post-production support forming a secondary but integral part of the role.


You will be a hands-on problem solver, supporting editors, producers, and post teams by ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and running efficiently while also assisting with editorial workflows, deliveries, and media management.


Post-Production IT & Technical Support


Infrastructure, Servers & Hardware

  • Core understanding of post-production IT environments, including: Media servers and shared storage, Edit suite hardware, Networking fundamentals
  • Hands-on support and maintenance of: servers, Avid Nexis and Server rooms (basic organisation, monitoring, and issue escalation)
  • Setting up new storage spaces and managing media and project movement between servers
  • Monitoring server capacity and ensuring sufficient space for incoming projects
  • Archiving completed projects to LTO
  • Backups and restores from: Legacy storage, AWS, Wasabi
  • General CE kit IT maintenance, ensuring services are operational and resolving issues when they arise, including: Servers, WiFi & networking, Edit machines, Monitors, Audio setups, Frame.io, Axle, and associated post-production software.


Technical & IT Support

  • Providing day-to-day tech support to post-production teams
  • Troubleshooting issues across Mac and Windows systems
  • Supporting users with software, hardware, and connectivity issues
  • Raising and managing ServiceNow incidents and requests
  • Supporting computer networking basics (connectivity, access, permissions, workflow interruptions)
  • Assisting with server room-related tasks and escalations where required
  • Hardware management, setup, and basic fault diagnosis.


Editorial & Media Support

  • Ingesting and syncing media via MASV, physical drives, and stock sources
  • Supporting editors with project setup and workflows
  • Creating AAF and DRT files (as required) for sound mix and grade
  • Creating EDLs
  • QC’ing and delivering projects to specification
  • Clean splits and metadata creation for wrapped projects delivered to Creative Hub
  • Supporting Axle, including: Setting up new catalogues, Preparing short string-outs and cut-downs for selects
  • Assisting with small edits and basic GFX creation
  • Working knowledge of: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Basic Photoshop edits.


Required Skills & Experience


Essential:

  • Experience in post-production tech support, media operations, or technical post roles
  • Strong foundational understanding of: Servers and shared storage, Post-production hardware, Computer networking basics
  • Confidence troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Familiarity with professional post-production environments
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Clear communicator comfortable supporting both technical and creative teams
  •  Edit assistant or post-production assistant experience.


Desirable

  • Experience with Avid Nexis, QNAP
  •  Familiarity with Axle
  • Experience with LTO archiving
  • Knowledge of cloud storage solutions AWS, Wasabi.
